Derrick Fielding
Born in Liverpool in 1965, I can remember spending much of my youth with my head buried in a comic typically The Beano. I'd frequently relish being sent to bed early as a punishment for some misdemeanour so I could read the newest escapade of The Smack Street Children . From an early age I really liked to draw and as I grew older, I started to use this zeal to unleash my complicated imagination to form games for me and my community pals.
Luckily, my pop was a painter and decorator so my earliest canvases were the backs of rolls of wallpaper that were apparently for his buyers. Living on the fringe of the town, I was captivated by the encompassing countryside and would slowly venture more and more out on my pushbike.
I ended up spending almost all of my teen years travelling round the country on marathon cycling vacations with chums whenever the likelihood arose. It mostly happened to me that there had been such a lot to see on my bike that you'd never notice when travelling by auto. Art was my favorite subject at college and when I left I served a tutelage as a sign-writer at close by Aintree racecourse.
I'm certain this period in my life much influenced my animation and graphic type of painting. Inspired by Liverpool's wonderful range of design, in my free time I might paint mawkish landscapes of the town in watercolours for relatives and buddies. Inspired by this, in 1999 I left the sign-making profession and became self employed, mixing my inflating painting commissions with a cutting edge bespoke present concept. This would provide shoppers with a framed show that displayed my paintings with the names of the inhabitants of a stated Liverpool street.
I received a business award for this and also for my design of a soccer board game. In 2005 I married Katie who has had an effect on me significantly with her younger outlook on life. She galvanized and inspired my up to date style of painting which has since then been rewarded with a publishing contract with Washington Green.
