Duncan MacGregor
Born in 1961, Duncan got raised in the Midlands where he spends a serious part of the year.
Irrespective of living so far inland, he managed to develop a liking for the sea, and spent an extremely important 18 months sailing across the Atlantic and then round the coast of Britain. He now spends part of the year back home in the Midlands, and the remainder of the time in Scotland.
Taking his inspiration from the encompassing landscape and naturally the sea, Duncan is particularly attracted by the result of natural light on colour. His particular palette conveys the cool yet decorative shades of sea and sky as they appear in the brilliant light of the sun.
Approaching the abstract, his work is indicated by the dense application of sumptuously textured acrylics, which create a sense of spontaneity and impossible to resist energy. Since turning pro, Duncan has enjoyed serious fulfillment in Britain , showing his work in both studios and private collections.
