Eve Arnold, Born to Russian parents in Philadelphia, USA in 1913, Eve Arnold began her photographing career while working at a photo finishing plant in New York City. Having studied photography for just 6 weeks with Alexei Brodovitch at New York City's New School for Social Research in 1948, Eve Arnold passionately embraced photography as a profession as well as a personal means of self expression. Eve Arnold was well known to have worked with famous political figures such as the Queen Elizabeth II, Senator Joseph McCarthy and Malcolm X and movie stars like Joan Crawford and Marilyn Monroe.

Arnold has traveled extensively across the world photographing countries like China, Russia, South Africa and Afghanistan and her first exhibition in 1980 featuring her work done in China brought her much fame and recognition. One of the major mile stones in her career is joining Magnum as an associate and she has went on to receive numerous honorary awards including Doctor of Science from the University of St Andrews, Scotland in 1997, Doctor of Letters from Staffordshire University and the honorary award of Doctor of Humanities from the American International University in London. She was also awarded the prestigious title of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2003 and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Sony World Photography awards in 2010.
