Doug Hyde
Recognized by the BBC as the UK's most popular living artist, the young artist Doug Hyde went onto win the title of Best Selling Published Artist at the Fine Art Trade Guild awards in 2005. However his most treasured tribute was made by his art lovers and collectors in early 2006 when his hundredth limited edition was sold out demonstrating the immense popularity of his work and the loyalty of his collectors.

Despite being the high profile artist that he is today, his beginnings were humble. Born in Bristol in 1972, he was the third of four children. His close relationship with his older sister Emily who was disabled had been the seed of inspiration for his work as her company had been an eye opening experience for him in seeing the brighter side of life. In essence, his entire collection of work revolves around themes such as family bonds, love, optimism and happiness they all bring.
Hyde had always wanted to pursue some sort of an artistic career during his school days and as soon as he left school he worked in a draughtsman’s office during which time he followed a course in technical illustration. Having passed with a distinction he set out on a career in illustration, specialising in airbrush artwork. In the meantime he continued to paint and draw for his own amusement and his good fortune knocked him at his door when his friends started demanding his work. Only then did he realise his potential and following a meeting with De Montfort, a decision was made to take up painting full time.
While his loving wife and three children being the main source of inspiration behind his work, the driving force that constantly pushes him towards success is the sheer excitement he gets when he sees the whole world share his feelings and emotions through his artwork. These arrest the hearts of the viewers from all walks of life as they embrace his work and each piece is capable of associating with their own lives as much as it does with Doug Hyde’s.
